The UK response to the Nepal earthquake & the emergency management of crush injury

Richard was a team doctor for the UK ISAR team who deployed to Nepal immediately following the devastating 2015 Nepal earthquake. The talk will cover the UK emergency response to the disaster and explore current management strategies for patients being trapped or suffering crush injuries.
Richard is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and a HEMS Consultant and Director of Research for Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trust. He is Professor of Pre-hospital Emergency Medical Care at the University of Surrey, UK. Richard has an established research portfolio in pre-hospital resuscitation, trauma care and emergency medicine. He has won several international awards including the top research award from the European Resuscitation Council. Richard was a lead doctor for the London 2012 Olympic Stadium and is an active member of the UK International Search & Rescue Team. He has previous experience in the British Armed Forces. Richard is a current member of the Resuscitation Council (UK) Executive Committee and author of several international pre-hospital guidelines
